To go with last edition’s Marcus, I picked up the ‘special order’ for the Order Initiates.
One of my hobby goals for these models was to work on blending, especially between the human and beast portions. The legs I’m pretty happy with. The transition between red and orange/yellow on the wings is more abrupt than I would have liked.
The grays on the legs and torso here I’m quite happy with.
I bought the Marcus box around when the Winter Wonderland alt Rasputina box was release, and quickly painted Myranda and the Cerberus. One of the last things I assembled and prepped for paint before the M3E annoucement was the rest of the box. But then I was less interested in new Malifaux models.
Well, now M3E’s been out for a year, so I gotta keep working on that backlog. Marcus got a new box with new sculpts, but that doesn’t invalidate his old one.
Plus, who doesn’t want a rabid rabbit sitting on a human head?
This marks the first time I’m painting the Emissary and Effigy at the same time. Since in third edition, the Effigy can grow into the Emissary, it seemed to make sense to paint them with similar colors.
I tried a splatter effect to dirty up these models — Resurrectionists are supposed to be dirty. It works okay on the Emissary, but the scale doesn’t feel right on the Effigy.
As much as I like the Carrion Emissary as a model, I just don’t like it as a game piece. It’s too bit to easily transport. At least the wings are high above the base, so smaller models can fit under it.
