The Wasteland Vermin box contains a bunch (9 altogether) of little annoying guys to get in your warband’s way.

My one complaint for this box is that they’re all single pose. I wish there had been something different, at least for the mole rats.

I also did two of the radroach bases as the glowing variety. I decided not to do a glowing mole rat. There’s no card for one yet, and if there ever is one I can always get another box of the rats.
The Boston Companions box adds another three named characters to the Survivors faction.
Cait
Cait is my favorite of the bunch. Her pose projects power, although trying to actually use either weapon like that probably wouldn’t be too effective.
Piper
I think Piper is my least favorite of the set. The purple jacket came out funny, and the pose looks awkward. At least she has a brownie camera, although hers has faded to gray.
X6-88 Courser
I went with a raw ceramic look for Courser’s weapon, similar to my Genestealer Cult hybrids.

And with these models, the galleries now cover 1000 distinct models.
Since the GenCon Miss model this year was an alt Seamus, I figured I ought to get some of his friends. Fortunately, the High Society box was available for prerelease. Sweet! Unfortunately, they ran out and my box was significantly delayed. It did come eventually, so here we are.
Dead Dandy (teacup)
I used these models as an opportunity to borrow a friend’s collection of contrast paints from Games Workshop and play with the new product. There wasn’t a good undead flesh option in the collection, so I tried one of the grays here. I disliked it enough to go back to my standard recipe for the rest.

I used a simple technique:
Zenithal prime white over black
Apply contrast paint over sections, in a single coat
Highlight with regular paints from my collection, mostly Reaper.

I’d call it pretty successful overall. At nearly $8 a bottle it’s a tough sale, but it was certainly fast with pretty good results.

I don’t expect to switch over entirely, but I have bought a few to use when it feels like the right tool.

I already had a transparent red Bete painted, way back in the day nominally to go with the nightmare Tara crew. I don’t love the paint job on it, though, so maybe the new one will find some use someday.
As Wyrd has done for the last few years, Black Friday brought a themed support piece for Gencon’s Nightmare crew. In this case, an alt Rogue Necromancy to go with Brine and Bones pirate Molly.

To give some texture, I used an airbrush stencil on the arms. This is one of my more successful attempts, as it’s actually still visible on the finished model, unlike Lord Chompy Bits.

I wish I had known this model would be coming before I bought and painted the regular Rogue Necromany, but maybe that one will fit better with other crews. Especially if I go all in on McMourning sometime.
