Revenant Titan"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>At the end of 2013, I participated in a narrative campaign (Relic War \/ Warzone Harat) put on by the G3 Santa Cruz group. \u00a0It was a three-part event hosted by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.endgameoakland.com\/\">Endgame<\/a>. \u00a0I took my Dark Eldar with Eldar allies.<\/p>\n<p>For the finale, they ran an &#8220;Apoc-lite&#8221; event &#8211; basically a high-point game with super heavies, but sticking to the force org chart otherwise. \u00a0This was announced at the end of the second day, in November.<\/p>\n<p>I decided to use this as an excuse to get an <a href=\"http:\/\/www.forgeworld.co.uk\/Warhammer-40000\/Titans\/ELDAR_REVENANT_TITAN_WITH_PULSARS_.html\">Eldar Revenant Titan<\/a>. \u00a0With the third game in January, I had about 8 weeks to select, order, assemble, and paint the model. \u00a0I made the deadline, but it was a bit intense.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_66\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-66\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/paintedguys.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/Revenant-full.jpg\" data-rel=\"lightbox-gallery-PI4j4bjt\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-66\" magnetized, so I can (in theory) get sonic lances if I wanted to swap it out. \u00a0It also makes it easier to transport.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_64\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-64\" mechanism on the hood, so I just snipped it off and put on a couple of magnets (notice a trend?).<\/p>\n<p>I knew that the kit came with two hood options. \u00a0I was surprised to find that it also came with a second lower head piece. \u00a0I may someday use that for a terrain piece or something.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_67\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-67\" style=\"width: 300px\" together. \u00a0This is a pretty top-heavy model, and even though I pinned all the major joints, there was still a lot of play. \u00a0A little acrylic rod fixed it up, although it still makes me nervous every time I move the model.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_63\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-63\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-63\" src=\"http:\/\/paintedguys.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/Revenant-base-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"Revenant base\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Revenant base<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>I have a loose idea of the Dark Eldar\/Eldar force being opposed to some Necron force, and using dead Necron bits on the bases. \u00a0This model is the most elaborate one by far (although it&#8217;s still pretty simple). \u00a0I decided that the Revenant just blew up a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.games-workshop.com\/en-US\/NecronsTesseract-Vault\">Tesseract Vault<\/a>, then jump jetted on top of it to select the next target.<\/p>\n<p>I bought a couple of bits from the Vault kit off Ebay. \u00a0The C&#8217;tan bit was stupidly expensive (well, it is a standalone unit in Apoc..), so I instead used a Dr. Manhattan HeroClix miniature. \u00a0I tried putting the model in boiling water to repose it, but the damn arm wouldn&#8217;t stay down. \u00a0I ended up cutting it off and putting in some tentacles. \u00a0I also made tentacles, using\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.greenstuffindustries.com\/store\/p1\/Tentacle_Maker_Tool_Box_v2.html\">Green Stuff Industries&#8217; Tentacle Maker<\/a> (though mine are\u00a0the v1 opaque ones), for the Canoptek thing. \u00a0This let me shape them however I wanted before the putty cured.<\/p>\n<p>Overall I&#8217;m very happy with how the model turned out. \u00a0I wish the airbrushing was a little more consistent, and that it stood upright on it&#8217;s own. \u00a0It does look nice in the cabinet, but I should find more opportunities to play with
